About Us

Banyan Street Real Estate Funds LLC (“BSREF”) is a majority women and minority-owned real estate firm focusing on investing in value-add real estate opportunities that produce strong risk-adjusted returns for its investors.

The principals of BSREF have been investing together for over 25 years. In 2019, they formed BSREF in conjunction with Banyan Street Capital (“BSC”). BSC invests in operating platforms and properties including office, multifamily, and parking. Its portfolio is currently valued in excess of $3 billion.

Leadership Team

J. Stuart Mackintosh

J. STUART MACKINTOSH
MANAGING DIRECTOR, PRINCIPAL

Stuart is responsible for the real estate investment activity of Banyan Street Real Estate Funds (“BSREF”) across all investment structures, including private funds, separate accounts, and direct investments. He is a Fund Manager of the firm’s commingled fund vehicles and a member of the firm’s Investment Committee.

Prior to co-founding BSREF in 2019, Stuart was a Managing Director and Principal at EII Realty Corp. where he was responsible for the Firm’s private real estate investment business. Stuart has 30 years of real estate experience, including acquisition, financing, asset management, and the structuring of more than 25 joint ventures with various REITs and private real estate companies. His previous experience includes six years at the Bank of Boston, financing foreign investors in the United States.

Stuart graduated cum laude from Middlebury College with a BA degree in Political Science, and received his MBA from New York University. Stuart is a member of the National Multi Housing Council and the Urban Land Institute’s Responsible Investors Council.

Scott Prizer

SCOTT PRIZER
MANAGING DIRECTOR, PRINCIPAL

Scott oversees all real estate investments, investment strategies and transaction structuring for Banyan Street Real Estate Funds (“BSREF”). Scott has more than 27 years of real estate experience and is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee.

Prior to co-founding (“BSREF”) in 2019, Scott was a Principal at EII Realty Corp. (“EIIRC”), where he structured and managed the firm’s private real estate investments including acquisitions, joint ventures and asset management and was a Fund Manager. Before joining EIIRC, he was an analyst for Bear Stearns focusing on domestic and international financial institutions, and previously worked at Fidelcor Business Credit.

Scott received a BA in Finance from George Washington University and an MBA from New York University. He serves on a number of Partnership Executive Committees with REITs and private operators and is a licensed real estate broker in the State of New York, as well as a member of the National Multifamily Housing Council.

Elizabeth Beckwith

ELIZABETH BECKWITH
MANAGING DIRECTOR, PRINCIPAL

Elizabeth is responsible for the firm’s fund and strategic investment initiatives at Banyan Real Estate Funds LLC (“BSREF”), including fund structuring, capital raising, investor relations, and marketing activities and she is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee.

Prior to co-founding BSREF, Elizabeth focused on developing EII Realty Corp.’s fund business. Previously, Elizabeth worked at Alliance Residential Company where she was responsible for sourcing, structuring and negotiating JV equity and debt for multifamily development projects and acquisitions nationally. She began her real estate career in structured finance at Spaulding & Slye and has more than 18 years of experience in real estate. Her prior work experience includes positions in management consulting and capital markets at Deloitte Consulting and Chase Manhattan Bank, N.A.

Elizabeth received her BS from Cornell University, and her MA/MBA from Johns Hopkins University (SAIS) and the University of Pennsylvania (Wharton).

 

Martin Nusser, CFA

MARTIN NUSSER, CFA
MANAGING DIRECTOR, PRINCIPAL

Martin is responsible for acquisitions and asset management of real estate investments for Banyan Street Real Estate Funds (“BSREF”), including sourcing, underwriting, financing, asset management and disposition activities. Martin has more than 12 years of investment experience and is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee.

Prior to co-founding BSREF, Martin focused on transaction execution at EII Realty Corp (“EIIRC”), including underwriting, analysis, due diligence, and disposition functions. Before joining EIIRC, he began his career with positions at McKinsey & Co. and Arcelor DTT.

Martin earned a Master of Science in Economics from the University of Maastricht and is a CFA Charterholder.

Rudy Prio Touzet

RUDY PRIO TOUZET
FOUNDER, CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER – BANYAN STREET CAPITAL

Rudy Prio Touzet is responsible for providing strategic guidance and leadership for all aspects of Banyan Street Capital’s (“BSC”) operations. He brings more than 35 years of commercial real estate and financial experience to Banyan, which he founded in 2007.

Prior to founding Banyan Street Capital, Rudy co-founded America’s Capital Partners in 1997, and led the company for the next decade. During that time, the firm invested in and operated 13.8 million square feet of office properties, with a value of $1.9 billion, throughout the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic in joint ventures with domestic and international investors. In 2009, Rudy combined many of the ACP assets with Eola Capital, LLC and helped to lead Eola through its merger with Parkway Properties, Inc. in 2011. He also served as an independent director of Parkway from 2011 to 2012.Previously, Rudy joined Associated Capital Properties and served as its executive vice president until its sale to Highwoods Properties after which he served as the head of Highwoods’ South Florida operations. From 1981 until 1997, Rudy held a number of positions at Cushman & Wakefield, including managing director, Florida Area.

Rudy earned a BBA from the University of Miami.

Investment Strategy

MULTIFAMILY

BSREF invests in a variety of multifamily investment strategies, including workforce housing, value add, core-plus and conversion opportunities through real estate funds, separate accounts, and direct investments.

Private Funds

Since 2013, the team has been investing in the sustainable renovation of workforce housing through a series of private, commingled funds launched in 2013, 2016, and 2020. BSREF is currently raising capital for its fourth fund.

BSREF creates customized multifamily investment strategies for institutions and family offices, providing advisory and management services across the life-cycle of the investment. These strategies include core-plus, value add, and conversion strategies.

BSREF is focused on ways to sustainably invest in commercial real estate. Through its renovations, BSREF seeks to implement improvements that conserve water, energy, and reduce the carbon footprint of its investments.

In addition, BSREF looks for ways to positively impact the local communities surrounding its assets through partnerships with local community groups.
